How to Play
Try to build squares by placing your pieces on all 4 corners. Points are earned based on the size of the squares captured- larger squares are worth more points. Be the first to 150 points and be ahead by at least 15 points to win.
Advanced Squares
Squares can also be created diagonally with the added benefit that diagonal squares earn you more points.
Levels
MetaSquares is a level based game. If you beat level 1, you will move on to level 2 and so on. Subsequent games can be started at any of the levels which you have previously beaten and will continue to advance as you rack up the victories. Levels can be changed by double tapping on the level button, rolling over back to level 1 if you exceed your current max level. You will be asked to discard any active game. Note: You can only change levels if no pieces are currently blinking on the board
Last Piece Played
The last piece played on the board will always feature a glow around it for ease of recognition.
Auto Save
MetaSquares will automatically save your game if you tap the home button or receive a call. Additionally, any moves that have not locked in will be discarded when you leave the Game tab.
New Game/Reset
New games can be started by swiping your finger quickly from left to right in the score area of the game screen.
Player Name
You can set your player name by double tapping in the score area of the game screen.
Skins
MetaSquares ships with a number of different visual themes, or skins. To change skins, simply swipe your finger horizontally (either direction) across the game board. The new skin will be visible immediately. Note: You can only change skins if no pieces are currently blinking on the board
2 Player Mode
Metasquares features a 2 player mode which allows two players to play on the same device. In 2 player mode, players take turns making moves. Tapping on the player icon near the bottom left of the screen will change player modes (You will be asked to discard any active game). Note: To avoid inadvertent moves during device handoffs, in two player mode, the piece lock timer is set to infinity (°) and cannot be change while in two player mode.
Piece Lock Timer
To help avoid placing pieces in the wrong spot, you have the ability to move your piece while it is still blinking. The length of time the piece blinks is determined by the piece lock timer. You can change this time by tapping on the lock icon near the bottom center of the screen (1-5 seconds and ° = infinity). The value will roll over back to 1 after the ° value.
